Pune: Pimpri Police Arrest Burglar Who Struck During Voting Hours

Pimpri, 15th May 2024: A burglar broke into a locked house in Pimpri while the residents were out voting, stealing 2 lakh 37 thousand rupees. The incident occurred between three and four in the afternoon on Monday (13th) at Udyam Nagar, Pimpri. However, the Pimpri police managed to arrest the burglar within 12 hours.

The arrested accused, identified as Rohan Ranoji Shinde (23), resides in Vitthal Nagar, Pimpri. The victim, Deepak Muralidhar Waghmare, a resident of
Shruti Enclave society in Udyam Nagar, Pimpri, had locked his house at 3 pm and gone out to cast his vote. Upon returning around four o’clock, he discovered the broken lock and missing items.

Waghmare promptly reported the incident to the Pimpri Police Station, leading to an immediate investigation. The police identified Rohan Shinde as the prime suspect and detained him for questioning. During interrogation, Shinde confessed to the crime, and stolen goods worth Rs 2,37,900 were recovered from him. Shinde is a history sheeter with a record of vehicle theft and property theft.
