Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad’s Missing Link Road Near Indolink Eurocity Set to Ease Traffic Congestion by January 2026

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 22nd April 2025: Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is in the final stages of developing a critical missing link road connecting Kalewadi Phata to the Commissioner’s residence via the Indolink Eurocity industrial area on Dehu-Alandi Road, aimed at significantly reducing traffic congestion in the rapidly growing city.
The project, currently underway with a 30-meter-wide stretch already operational for temporary traffic, will allow vehicles to travel directly without detours, improving connectivity and streamlining Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus routes. Completion is expected soon after Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) hands over the remaining land, with the full project deadline set for January 2026 but efforts are underway to open the road earlier for public use.
The comprehensive project includes road widening, water pipeline installation, street lighting, and traffic management improvements to ensure smooth and safe vehicle movement. Pune-based consultancy firm MAPS Global Civiltech Pvt. Ltd., selected through an e-quotation process for technical and management advisory, is overseeing project planning, quality control, and supervision, ensuring strict adherence to timelines and standards. The firm is also responsible for traffic safety measures, pedestrian security, and environmental balance throughout the project phases.
PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh highlighted the project as a vital step toward sustainable and planned urban development, emphasizing its importance in providing citizens with safe, efficient, and high-quality transportation infrastructure. Chief Engineer Pramod Ombhase noted that a high-level meeting with MIDC’s CEO in March expedited land acquisition, with MIDC assuring prompt clearance of remaining areas. The project’s scope includes not only road construction but also enhancements to water supply and lighting systems, with the goal of opening the road fully for traffic well before the January 2026 deadline.
