Pune, 23rd August 2024: The three rivers flowing through Pimpri Chinchwad city—Pavana, Mula, and Indrayani—have constructions within the blue flood line that will be removed following a survey conducted at the ward office level of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Chaubey assured that during the eviction actions undertaken by PCMC, all necessary security measures will be provided by the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC).

With the onset of the monsoon, flood-like conditions are emerging in the riverside areas of Pimpri Chinchwad city. Therefore, to prevent loss of life and property, constructions within the blue flood line in the Pavana, Mula, and Indrayani river basins will be cleared. A planning meeting was held at the PCPC headquarters in Chinchwad to address this.

In this meeting, Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinay Kumar Chaubey, PCMC Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr. Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, PCMC City Engineer Makarand Nikam, PCMC Deputy Commissioner Manoj Lonkar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doiphode, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Swapna Gore, and other concerned officials and employees were present.

The water levels of the rivers flowing through Pimpri Chinchwad rise due to rainfall in urban areas, as well as dam discharge. This often creates flood-like situations in the city. The meeting addressed various measures and necessary precautions to prevent any emergencies.

In response to the flooding in the Pavana, Mula, and Indrayani rivers, the planning meeting decided to evict all structures within the blue flood line of the riverbed. All necessary security measures will be provided by PCPC during the eviction proceedings on behalf of PCMC.
