Pimpri Chinchwad, 13th July 2024: Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey announced today on X (formerly Twitter) that the long-awaited decision to finalize the site for establishing the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) has been made. Government land at Jadhavwadi, Chikhali, has been approved by the Revenue and Forest Department of the Maharashtra State Government to set up the Police Commissionerate office, residences, and a parade ground. Additionally, an independent dog squad will be housed within the PCPC.

The construction of the PCPC building will take place on the government premises at Jadhavwadi, Chikhali, where police officer residences and the parade ground will also be located. Furthermore, 9 gunthas of land have been allocated for the construction of the Chikhali Police Station. The Revenue and Forest Department has stipulated that the land must be utilized for the approved purposes within three years of possession.

A separate Police Commissionerate was established for Pimpri Chinchwad and its surrounding areas by merging nine police stations from the Pune Police Commissionerate and five police stations from Pune rural limits. The PCPC commenced operations on 15th August 2018. However, due to inadequate space, facilities such as the Police Commissioner’s office, Police Headquarters, officer residences, and parade grounds have not been fully available until now.

Meanwhile, the government has approved the allotment of 15 acres of land near Kalewadi Phata in Wakad for the construction of police officer residences and other offices. The government has also sanctioned a payment of Rs 249 crore for this space.

Additionally, the creation of an independent dog squad for the PCPC has been approved by the High-Powered Committee chaired by Principal Secretary to the Government of Maharashtra Sujata Saunik.
