Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Officer Hurt While Trying to Arrest Fraudster in Jaipur; Case Filed

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 27th September 2024: A dramatic incident unfolded in Jaipur, Rajasthan, where police officers attempting to arrest a fraud suspect were nearly run over by the accused. The shocking encounter was captured on CCTV, leading to a case being registered at the local police station.

Pimpri-Chinchwad Cyber Assistant Police Inspector Praveen Swamy sustained injuries during the incident and is currently experiencing numbness in his feet.

According to police, the cyber team traveled to Jaipur to apprehend Akshat Goyal, who is accused of defrauding a local businessman of Rs 1.08 crore. Fearing arrest in Chinchwad, Akshat fled to Rajasthan. Authorities had arrested his accomplice, Mayank Goyal, who provided information that led police to believe Akshat was in Jaipur.

Upon arriving at the location, the cyber police laid a trap and spotted Akshat sitting in a black vehicle with several friends. As police surrounded the car and ordered the occupants to exit, Akshat attempted to escape by driving directly at the officers. In a bid to prevent his escape, Assistant Police Inspector Praveen Swamy stepped in front of the vehicle but was struck by the car as Akshat fled the scene.

Following the incident, Inspector Swamy filed a case against Akshat Goyal for obstruction of government work and attempted murder at the local police station. The police are now intensifying efforts to locate and apprehend Akshat, who remains at large.
