Pimpri-Chinchwad, 9th June 2024: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Department has intensified its campaign against vehicles with illegal modifications, including black-tinted windows, fancy number plates, and modified bullet silencers. Since January 1, 2024, more than 22,000 offenders have been fined, showcasing the police’s commitment to addressing these violations.

Fancy Number Plates Under Scrutiny

From January 1 to June 5, 2024, a total of 10,663 cases were registered against vehicles with fancy number plates. Authorities emphasize that these plates often violate the Motor Vehicles Act by not adhering to the standard size and font, making it difficult to read the numbers. The crackdown aims to ensure all vehicles comply with legal standards, improving road safety and vehicle identification.

Action Against Black Films on Car Windows

In another significant move, the police have taken action against cars with black film on their windows. As of June 2024, 11,104 cases have been recorded. Despite the cost and prestige associated with certain high-end vehicles, the police have made it clear that no exceptions will be made. The use of black films is banned as they obstruct visibility, posing a security threat and hindering law enforcement efforts.

Modified Bullet Silencers Targeted

The campaign also extends to motorcycles, particularly those with modified bullet silencers, which often produce excessive noise and cause disturbance. This ongoing operation is part of the broader mission to eliminate such nuisances from the streets of Pimpri-Chinchwad.

Continued Vigilance and Enforcement

Pimpri-Chinchwad police officials have vowed to continue their relentless efforts against these infractions. “We have a long way to go, but our action against fancy number plates, black films, and modified silencers will be non-stop until we rid our streets of these menaces,” police stated.
