Pune: State Government Approves Zone-3 And Additional Divisions For Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate
Pimpri Chinchwad, 5th September 2023: The Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate has received a significant boost in its law enforcement capabilities with the recent approval by the Home Department of Maharashtra State Government to establish Zone-3 and add four additional divisions. This expansion comes in response to the growing population, urbanization, industrialization, educational institutions, and the need to maintain law and order effectively within the region.
In 2018, the government initially approved two zones and four divisions for the Pimpri Chinchwad Commissionerate. However, Commissioner of Police Vinay Kumar Choubey recognized the pressing need to reorganize the police commissionerate to address the evolving challenges. To enhance law enforcement capabilities and provide better services to citizens, Commissioner Choubey advocated for the creation of an additional zone and two divisions. Furthermore, the appointment of Deputy Commissioners of Police was deemed essential for improved traffic management and planning.
On May 17, 2023, a formal proposal was submitted by the Pimpri Chinchwad Commissionerate to the government outlining these changes. Subsequently, on September 4, 2023, the Home Department granted approval for the addition of Zone-3 and two new divisions to the Commissionerate of Police. Two Deputy Commissioners of Police have already been appointed in line with this expansion.
The Home Department has defined the roles and responsibilities of the newly created zonal DCP and six Divisional ACPs in accordance with the notification received.
The office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Zone-3 is now operational in the Bhosari MIDC Police Station building. Sandeep Doifode has been appointed as the DCP for Zone-3, taking up this crucial role in the restructured commissionerate.
Additionally, Shivaji Pawar has been designated as the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the traffic branch, further enhancing the commissionerate’s capability to manage traffic-related issues effectively.
A notification detailing the construction of newly included Police Stations and Divisions within the jurisdiction of the zones and divisions has been issued by the Home Department, underlining the commitment of the authorities to ensure the safety and convenience of the citizens of Pimpri Chinchwad.
This significant restructuring of the Pimpri Chinchwad Commissionerate is expected to bolster the law enforcement efforts, streamline traffic management, and ultimately enhance the overall security and convenience for the residents of the region.
