Pimpri Chinchwad, 6th May 2023: Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey of Pimpri Chinchwad Police held a virtual meeting with citizens yesterday, taking questions on Twitter between 4 PM and 5 PM under the hashtag #Ask_CP_PCCity.

Responding to citizen concerns, Choubey revealed that stringent action is being taken against those who engage in noise pollution by riding bullet bikes after 10 pm in Pimpri Chinchwad. In the past four months alone, over 350 bullet bike silencers have been seized, and fancy number plates have been confiscated.

Choubey also shared that 3000 motorists have been penalized for driving on the wrong side of the road, with more punitive action set to follow. But the most concerning development was the seizure of 59 weapons and 276 guns in Pimpri Chinchwad in the last four months, with 135 notorious gangsters booked under the MCOCA and MPDA. These arrests signal the authorities’ ongoing commitment to tackle the rising menace of arms trafficking in the city.

In recent years, Pimpri Chinchwad has seen a surge in violent crimes, including instances of gang violence and drive-by shootings. The seizure of these weapons and the arrests made will go a long way in combating this problem, although there is still a long way to go.

Police Commissioner Choubey’s interaction with the public is a welcome step in enhancing communication between law enforcement and citizens, as it enables authorities to identify and act on public grievances promptly. This initiative also helps to foster a sense of community and inclusiveness in the city’s residents, where everyone has a role to play in ensuring public safety.
