Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Arrest Notorious Vehicle Thieves, Recover 21 Stolen Motorcycles

Dehu Road, 5th September 2024: Two notorious vehicle thieves have been arrested by the Pimpri Chinchwad Police. These thieves had 21 cases registered against them under both the Pune City Police Commissionerate and Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) jurisdictions. The police have confiscated 21 motorcycles, valued at nearly Rs 14.50 lakh. The action was taken by the Detection Branch (DB) of Dehu Road Police Station.

The arrested individuals are Akash Shankar Jadhav (24, resident of Chikhali, native of Dharashiv) and Ashutosh Nanasaheb Ghodake (23, resident of Chikhali). Multiple theft cases have been filed against them.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Vishal Gaikwad, senior police officials issued instructions to curb motorcycle thefts within the PCPC jurisdictions. Following these directives, the Detection Branch (DB) of Dehu Road Police Station launched an investigation and received information that stolen vehicles were being brought to the Dehu Road Market area. The police set up a trap and arrested Jadhav and Ghodake. During interrogation, it was revealed that all the vehicles were stored in Beed. The DB went to Beed and recovered all 21 vehicles, valued at Rs 14,45,000.

The investigation solved 21 cases: 2 registered at Dehu Road, 7 at Chikhali, 3 at MIDC Bhosari, 4 at Nigdi, 2 at Bhosari, and 1 each at Dighi, Chinchwad, and Sinhagad Road Police Stations. The police have obtained custody of the accused from the court.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr. Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Vishal Gaikwad, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Dehu Road Division) Devidas Gheware. The Dehu Road Police Station’s DB team, led by Senior Police Inspector Vijay Waghmare and Police Inspector (Crime) Vijay Kumar Wakase, included Police Sub-Inspectors Sohan Dhotre and Ajay Kumar Rathod, as well as Police Constables Balasaheb Vidhate, Sunil Yadav, Prashant Mali, Ketan Kangude, Santosh Mahadik, Yuvraj Mane, Shubham Bawankar, Kailas Ulhare, Khandu Viranak, and Mangesh Lokhande.
