Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad Anti-Terrorism Cell Unravels Fake Document Gang, Four Arrested

Bhosari, 7th December 2023: In a significant operation conducted on Wednesday (6th), the Pimpri-Chinchwad’s Anti-Terrorism Cell successfully busted a gang involved in producing counterfeit documents. Four individuals, including a woman, were apprehended from Bhosari along the Pune-Nashik highway.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Shivraj Prakash Chambhare Kamble (40), a woman (36), and Dhondiba Prakash Shewalkar (24), all residents of Bhosari, and Ganesh Ramdas Yangad (23) of Moshi.

According to police, Shivraj and the woman operated a photocopy and stationery shop, falsely portraying it as an official Aadhaar card service centre. Exploiting this façade, they created fraudulent documents for unsuspecting citizens, making unauthorized alterations to various government records. The Pimpri-Chinchwad Anti-Terrorism Cell received information about these illicit activities, leading to the successful operation and arrests.

The accused had been involved in the production of fake documents for the past two to three years, highlighting the longevity and scale of their illegal operations.

In response to their activities, a case has been registered against the accused under Sections 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), 473 (making or possessing counterfeit seals), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. Additionally, Sections 36 and 42 of the Aadhaar Act, 2016 have been invoked.
