Pune Petrol Dealers Association Distributes 10,000 Rain Covers to Warkaris for Palkhi 2024
Pune, 2nd July 2024: The Petrol Dealers Association Pune has distributed 10,000 rain covers made of out of recycled Plastic to the Warkari’s participating in the Palkhi 2024 pilgrimage. This initiative aims to support the Warkaris on their journey to Pandharpur, especially given the forecasted monsoon, which is expected to be at 106 percent this year.
Recognizing the challenges that the monsoon season can pose to the Warkaris during their travel, the Petrol Dealers Association Pune has taken this proactive step to ensure their comfort and safety. The rain covers, distributed as a part of this initiative, will provide essential protection against the rains, ensuring that the Warkaris can continue their journey with minimal disruption.
Dhruv Ruparel, president of the Petrol Dealers Association Pune, said,”The Palkhi pilgrimage is a revered tradition for years, and the Warkaris’ devotion is truly inspiring. Understanding the importance of their journey and the impact of the upcoming monsoon, we felt it was our duty to contribute in a meaningful way. We hope that these rain covers will help make their journey a bit comfortable and protect them from the rain.”
The distribution along with the committee members Kalidas More, Amar Renuse, Amit Thakkar, Aba Walhekar, Kshitij Kankariya, Kavya Ladkat took place at Bhairobanala Petrol Pump along the Warkaris’ route to Pandharpur,ensuring that the rain covers reached those in need. The association has been distributing food packets every year.
