Wagholi, 8th September 2023: Bakori Road, stretching from Bakori Phata to Radheshwari Society in Wagholi, has become a cause for concern as it battles a dual menace of continuous rainwater accumulation and perilous potholes. This dire situation has left the local community, including school students, women, and citizens, grappling with major inconveniences and increased accident risks due to traffic congestion.

Prakash Jamdhade, president of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), Wagholi, said, “The issue has been persistent since the rain started. The locality shelters over 15,000 families and various schools and colleges. All of them are grappling with a bumpy accident-prone road in their daily commute. We have tried contacting PMC authorities several times, and I have personally handed a letter detailing our grievances to PMC Commissioner Vikram Kumar, but all in vain. The road is also a hub for illegal encroachments, narrowing its width from 30 feet to 12 feet. The potholes have vehicles plunging constantly. The path is difficult to navigate even for pedestrians. There are many such roads in Wagholi that are being neglected by the PMC.”

He added, “The relevant authorities must heed these calls and take immediate action to alleviate the situation. Addressing the water accumulation and repairing the road’s damaged sections are essential steps toward ensuring the safety and convenience of all those who rely on Bakori Road.“

Residents are eagerly awaiting a swift resolution to this predicament, hoping that their concerns will not fall on deaf ears and that Bakori Road can soon regain its status as a safe and accessible route for all.

PMC officials could not be reached for their comments on the issue.
