Pimpri, 13th December 2023: A young cashier employed at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital in Pimpri is accused of orchestrating a scam by manipulating patient bill receipts.

The accused, identified as 23-year-old Aditya Ankush Khandagale from Chikhali, allegedly embezzled a substantial sum by doctoring receipts in various hospital departments.

Sanjeev Shantaram Bhangle, a 57-year-old resident of Pimpri Gaon, brought the fraudulent activity to light by filing a complaint at the Pimpri Police Station.

Khandagale, an employee of BVG Company assigned to the cash counter at YCM Hospital, reportedly engaged in the illicit scheme. His responsibilities included handling transactions at the cash counter for different hospital departments, such as blood collection, x-rays, sonography, and the mortuary. The accused exploited his position by tampering with receipts, and creating counterfeit documents that reflected a lower amount than the actual funds collected.

Authorities claim that Khandagale managed to deceive the hospital of Rs 68,260. Instead of depositing the full amounts collected from patients and their relatives into the hospital’s account, he allegedly provided them with false receipts showing a reduced figure.

A case of cheating has been registered against Khandagale. Pimpri police are investigating the matter to uncover the full extent of the scam and gather evidence against the accused.
