Pimpri, 10 July 2024: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has released a draft Heat Action Plan designed to protect residents from the impacts of extreme heat. The plan aims to reduce heat-related illnesses and fatalities during the summer months and is now open for public input to ensure it effectively addresses the community’s needs. Feedback can be submitted by the deadline of July 20.

Key measures in the draft plan include the implementation of early warning systems, the establishment of cooling centres, and the execution of targeted awareness campaigns. These initiatives are intended to mitigate the adverse effects of extreme heat on the health and well-being of Pimpri Chinchwad’s residents.

PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh stressed the importance of community involvement in shaping the plan. “We believe that a robust Heat Action Plan can only be developed with the active participation of our residents. Their feedback will be invaluable in refining our strategies to protect the community from heat-related issues,” he stated.

Residents are encouraged to review the draft plan and provide suggestions and feedback. The draft and a designated feedback template are available on the PCMC website. Feedback can be submitted via email to [email protected] by the given deadline. For any queries, residents can also contact the same email address.
