Pune: PCMC Presents Ambitious Rs 8,676 Crore Budget for Fiscal Year 2024-25

Pimpri, 20th February 2024: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) today presented a budget totalling 8,676 crores for the fiscal year 2024-25.

This substantial budget, inclusive of sponsored schemes from both Central and State Governments, was announced today (Tuesday). Notably, amidst the upcoming Lok Sabha, Vidhan Sabha, and municipal elections, no changes were made to taxes or fares.

In a special meeting, PCMC Chief Accounts and Finance Officer Praveen Jain presented the budget to Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh. The administrators promptly approved the budget, marking the 42nd fiscal plan for PCMC. Notably, Commissioner Singh oversaw his second budget. The event was attended by Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jamble, Vijaykumar Khorate, and Ulhas Jagtap.

In Major Highlights PCMC has allocated:
– ₹1,863 crores for developmental projects.
– ₹190 crores for the operation of 8 zonal offices.
– ₹1,031 crores 79 lakhs for the implementation of special construction schemes.
– ₹1,898 crores for initiatives aimed at uplifting the urban poor.
– ₹61 crores 58 lakhs for various programs benefiting women.
– A sum of ₹65 crores 21 lakhs for schemes catering to disabled persons.
– An allocation of ₹269 crores 89 lakhs for water supply initiatives.
– A corresponding ₹269 crores 89 lakhs for Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML).
– ₹100 crores for land acquisition purposes.
– A provision of ₹50 crores for the Smart City initiative.
