Pimpri, 15th February 2024: The Skysign and License Department of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has taken action against unauthorized hoardings by issuing notices to 1100 hoarding holders in the city. These notices demand the payment of outstanding fees by 29th February, failing which the boards will be considered unauthorized, and appropriate action will be taken.

The PCMC premises and private landowners are permitted to erect billboards, which serve as a source of income for the Skysign and Licensing Department. However, advertisers have been flouting regulations by erecting hoardings illegally and neglecting to pay the required fees even after obtaining licenses.

Following an accident in Kiwale on 17th April 2023, the architectural report of all billboards was obtained, and the process of panel license renewal was halted. However, the Skysign and License Department has now initiated the renewal process and issued demand notices to hoarding holders, setting a deadline of 29th February for fee payment. The renewal will be for the financial year period from 1st April 2023 to 31st March 2024, with licenses to be renewed upon payment of the fee. Any billboard whose advertising license is not renewed will be deemed unauthorized, and action will be taken to remove it.

The Skysign and Licensing Department garnered an income of Rs 17 crore 24 lakh 44 thousand in the financial year 2022-23. This year, the administration anticipates earning Rs 19 crore from billboards, industry licenses, and renewals.

Deputy Commissioner of the Skysign and License Department, Sandeep Khot, emphasized that the process of renewing billboard licenses has commenced, with hoarding holders required to pay a fee ranging from 25 thousand to 1 lakh rupees. Licenses will only be renewed upon payment of the stipulated fee.
