Pimpri Chinchwad 13th Oct 2023: In a significant move towards promoting responsible waste management and enhancing civic participation, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has introduced the innovative ‘Post a Waste’ initiative. This initiative, aimed at citizens, is set to streamline waste disposal processes and facilitate efficient complaint resolution.

Citizens can take advantage of the ‘Post a Waste’ scheme through the official website of the Municipal Corporation (www.pcmcindia.gov.in) or the Sarathi Mobile App. The initiative covers a range of waste categories, including green waste, construction debris, surplus food from hotels and restaurants, and miscellaneous scraps.

One of the key features of the program is the facility to report and dispose of four specific types of waste, including electronic waste, through the online ‘Smart Sarthi Op.’ Upon registering a complaint, the Municipal Corporation promptly assigns it to the relevant agency for immediate action. Citizens will receive a unique complaint number upon registration, ensuring transparency and accountability in the waste management process.

To further streamline the complaint resolution process, citizens are required to upload photographs of the waste site through the application. This innovative approach allows users to track the real-time status of their complaints, view photographs of the site, and check the resolution status. The system ensures a quick response to waste-related issues.

To reinforce the importance of timely complaint resolution, the Health Department and Environment Department have implemented a mechanism for penal action against the designated agency if complaints are not addressed within a specific timeframe. This accountability framework encourages swift and efficient waste management.

The ‘Smart Sarathi’ app, which facilitates the ‘Post a Waste’ initiative, was developed with valuable input from the Health Department, Environment Department, and Parks Department. Municipal Commissioner and Administrator, Shekhar Singh, played a pivotal role in making this initiative a reality.
