Pimpri Chinchwad, 5th September 2024: Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Commissioner Shekhar Singh has urged that Ganesh Visarjan (immersion) of small Ganesh idols should be conducted in artificial immersion tanks, and the immersion of Shadu Mati idols should be done at home in clean water to promote an eco-friendly environment in the city.

Ahead of Ganesh Utsav, Commissioner Singh also issued various instructions to concerned officials and employees, such as installing CCTV systems at necessary locations, ensuring sufficient staff and operational systems at the immersion ghats to avoid inconvenience to devotees on the day of Ganesh Visarjan, organizing Nirmalya Kunda, and cleaning and repairing artificial immersion wells.

During an inspection of all major Ganesh Visarjan Ghats in the city and the facilities provided by the PCMC, Commissioner Singh spoke about these measures. Accompanying him on the inspection tour were Additional Commissioners Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Vijaykumar Khorate, City Engineer Makarand Nikam, Chief Engineer Sanjay Kulkarni, Joint City Engineer Babasaheb Galbale, Deputy Commissioners Ravikiran Ghodke, Anna Bodade, and other officials.

Every year during the Ganesh festival, a large number of devotees visit the ghats for Ganesh Visarjan. As Ganesh Utsav is being celebrated with great enthusiasm in Pimpri Chinchwad, a significant number of devotees are expected to visit the ghats this year as well. The number of processions for Ganesh Chaturthi and Visarjan is also increasing. In response, the PCMC has provided security, health, and disaster relief facilities for devotees at all Visarjan ghats in the city.

While inspecting these locations, Commissioner Singh emphasized the importance of beautifying the immersion ghats, installing directional boards, and properly fixing the locations of Nirmalya Kunda with appropriate signage. He also directed that lifeguards be stationed at the ghats and coordinated with the central control room to prevent any untoward incidents. Additionally, he instructed the relevant department heads, ward officers, and employees to ensure that fire-fighting systems, disaster management systems, and drinking water provisions for citizens remain fully operational.
