Pune: PCMC Boosts Sports Culture in Schools with Dedicated Sports Teachers
Pimpri, 4th December 2023: In a significant move to foster a good sports culture among students, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has appointed 32 dedicated sports teachers across 32 PCMC schools. This initiative, targeting 24 schools with the highest student enrollment and the top eight schools from the ‘Jallosh Shikshanacha’ event, aims to identify and nurture talent in various sports, promoting physical activity and well-being from an early age.
The appointed sports teachers will undergo specialized training to impart technical skills and instil values of teamwork, discipline, and resilience. The curriculum will be tailored to cater to student’s diverse interests and aptitudes, ensuring a holistic approach to sports education.
PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh emphasized, “Investing in sports education is an investment in the overall development of our youth. By appointing these sports teachers, we are creating avenues for physical well-being and sculpting a generation of well-rounded individuals. This initiative aligns with our vision for a vibrant and thriving educational ecosystem.”
PCMC’s additional commissioner, Pradip Jambhale-Patil, anticipates that this move will not only enhance physical well-being but also provide a platform for discovering and nurturing exceptional abilities in diverse sporting disciplines. The PCMC envisions a future where every student has the opportunity to explore and excel in sports, contributing to their overall development.
