Pune: PCMC Approves Education Support for Waste Pickers’ Children in Pimpri Chinchwad

Pimpri Chinchwad, 29th August 2024: Children of waste pickers in the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) area will receive financial assistance for their education. Students from Class I to VII will be given financial aid to improve their standard of living and prevent interruptions in their education due to financial constraints. This educational financial assistance scheme aims to support children living and working as garbage collectors within PCMC limits. The scheme has been approved by PCMC Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh.

Financial assistance will be provided to students from Class I to X. To apply, the following documents must be submitted: an Aadhaar card, a voter ID card, a copy of the previous year’s mark sheet, a bonafide certificate of admission in the current class, and a copy of the bank account passbook. Additionally, a certificate proving that the waste picker’s parent is a member of a registered waste picker’s association is required. Children of waste pickers who secure 50% or more marks in Classes VIII to X will receive financial aid of Rs. 7,000.
