Pune: Passengers Will Now Get Notification Regarding PMPML Bus’s Live Location On Their Mobile
Pune, 17th October 2022: Now passengers will know the live location of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus on their mobile. The passengers will also understand the information about the bus being stuck in a traffic jam along with the delay of the bus timings.
Reportedly, PMPML and Google have signed an agreement and this new service will start from Diwali. The name of this facility is ‘Live Tracking for Commuters’. For this, PMPML has selected 20 buses and 20 routes on a pilot basis. Google will test the scheme for four months and then it will be implemented on all bus routes.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between PMPML and Google a few days ago. After this, the Google team completed all the technical aspects.
Earlier, PMPML experimented with ‘ITMS’ to understand the live location of buses, but only the PMPML administration knew about it, and passengers were not getting information. But now Google is going to provide this service for free.
Passengers will also be able to purchase PMPML tickets from the Paytm app. In this regard, Paytm held a meeting with PMPML officials. Soon the decision regarding this will be announced officially. PMPML ticketing facility will be available soon for those who have this app and the scheme will be implemented in the next few days.
Dr Chetna Kerure, Joint Managing Director, PMPML, Pune informed, “Passengers will know the live location of the bus for the first time due to this facility. Having an agreement with a big company like Google will make this service beneficial for passengers.”
