Pune: Passenger Dies in Autorickshaw-Bus Accident near Navale Bridge

Narhe, 20th December 2023: An accident took place on the Mumbai-Bangalore highway near Navale Bridge in the Narhe area, claiming the life of a 54-year-old passenger in an autorickshaw. The collision occurred when the rickshaw collided with a travel bus from behind. The bus driver fled the scene after the accident.

The deceased passenger has been identified as Yashwant Narayan Zanjurne, a 54-year-old resident of Navtarun Chal, Vikhroli, Mumbai. Aniket Zanjurne, the son of the deceased, filed a complaint at the Sinhagad Road police station in connection with the incident. The police have registered a case against the travel bus driver.

According to the police, the complainant, along with his father Yashwant Zanjurne and relatives, was traveling in the autorickshaw around 5:30 am. As there is no designated stop for private passenger buses in the Narhe area after the ramp ends near Navale Bridge, the bus suddenly came to a halt. The autorickshaw driver lost control in an attempt to avoid the bus, resulting in a collision from behind. Yashwant Zanjurne, the rickshaw passenger, sustained serious injuries and lost his life during treatment at the hospital.

Police Sub-Inspector Shivaji Bunge is leading the ongoing investigation into the incident.
