Pune, 5th December 2023: Ovi Ritesh Dhore, a 10th-grade student from Aditya English Medium School, Baner (Pune), has achieved another milestone in her sporting journey. She has qualified for the school-level national archery competition, scheduled to take place in Nadiad, Gujarat, on December 17th and 18th. Ovi will proudly represent the CBSE team in this prestigious competition.

Ovi’s foray into archery began in 2022 when she participated in a local competition. Her passion for the sport has since garnered her numerous accolades, with a gold medal in the SFA archery championship held in Balewadi, Pune, in November this year being her latest achievement.

Initially training at the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Warje Sports Complex, established by the former corporator Sachin Dodke, Ovi started with the Indian bow but transitioned to the compound bow category due to her dedication and hard work. Securing a gold in a state-level competition held in Latur further boosted her confidence.

Recognizing Ovi’s potential, her coach Ajay Sonawane believed it was time for her to advance her skills and join a residential training academy. This decision led her to the Drushti Archery Academy in Satara, where she trained under the guidance of renowned archery coach Pravin Sawant. Ovi’s participation in various archery competitions not only earned her a solid reputation but also brought recognition to the academy.

The path to success is never easy; it requires rigorous physical training and involves long journeys for participating in various competitions. Ovi’s father, Ritesh Dhore, has been a dedicated supporter, assisting her in every aspect to fulfill her ambitions. With her sights set on an Olympic medal for India, Ovi sees her qualification for the nationals as a crucial step toward realizing that dream.
