Pune, September 4, 2020: As per the State Government’s order, the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has decided to reopen its resorts to tourists. Resorts in the Pune division have opened, and an online booking facility is also available.

Even during the lockdown period, MTDC staff repaired and cleaned the rooms and premises, so these tourist accommodations are sanitised and clean. These resorts will be continuously sanitised and cleaned throughout the next year. The equipment for measuring body temperature, sanitising sprays, oximeters are available.

“There are six MTDC resorts in Pune division in Mahabaleshwar, Panshet, Matheran, Malshej, Karla and Bhimashankar. Out of these, the resorts in Mahabaleshwar and Panshet will not be opened immediately as the number of Coronavirus (COVID-19) patients is high in these areas. The District Collector has permitted to open the resorts of the remaining four places following the government order. Accordingly, the online facility has been made available to reserve rooms in these resorts,” informed Deepak Harne, Regional Manager, Pune Division.

Tourists will be provided information about tourism facilities, food, information about the surrounding nature, local sports, traditions, cultural programmes, wildlife, trees and tourists, and safety measures will be taken by creating awareness through the website and WhatsApp group.

Medical facilities will be made available for tourists, and staff will be medically examined. As tourism was on halt due to lockdown, in order to give a boost to tourism, the government had approved inter-district travel. Harne also said that the staff would work overtime now.
