Pune: One Person Injured In Shooting Incident At Hotel In Chakan; One Accused Detained By Police

Chakan, 19th March 2024: A shooting incident occurred at Hotel Maratha on Rase Fata along the Chakan-Shikrapur road, leaving one person injured. The victim, identified as Swapnil alias Sajra Shinde (32), a resident of Rase village in Khed taluka, sustained a gunshot wound to the head after one of the three individuals who arrived at the hotel opened fire. The assailants fired three shots at the hotel operator, resulting in a bullet grazing the victim’s head.
Upon receiving the report, ACP Rajendrasinh Gaur and Senior Police Inspector Pramod Wagh reached the spot with their teams.
According to authorities, the incident took place around 10:30 PM on Monday. A verbal altercation ensued between the victim and the three assailants, culminating in a physical altercation. Subsequently, one of the suspects fired three rounds, one of which struck Shinde on the head.
The shooting is believed to have stemmed from an unresolved dispute. Notably, Shinde, also known as Seyara, has a criminal record and is booked for previous criminal activities. The two other suspects involved in the shooting, identified as Rahul Pawar and an unidentified individual, are absconding. Police have successfully detained Ajay Gaikwad, one of the accused individuals, for further questioning.
Pawar, whose brother was murdered in Mahalunge a few months ago, has a history of involvement in criminal activities, as does Ajay Gaikwad.
Police are further investigating the case.
