Pune, 18th June 2024: Lakhs of students studying in schools and colleges will now receive their ST bus passes directly at their schools, thanks to a new decision by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC).

This initiative means students will no longer have to stand in queues at bus stands for their passes. A special campaign, ‘ST Pass at Your School,’ is being implemented by the ST administration starting today (June 18).

With the beginning of the first semester of the new academic year, the government has offered a 66 percent discount to students for ST travel between home and school. This means students can obtain a monthly pass by paying only 33 percent of the full amount. Additionally, under the government’s ‘Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar Yojana,’ free ST passes are provided to all female students studying up to the 12th grade. Previously, students had to visit ST pass centers and stand in queues or go to the depot in groups to collect their passes.

This process often resulted in students wasting a day to get their passes, causing educational disruptions. However, starting this year, students will no longer need to stand in queues. According to the lists provided by schools and colleges, ST staff will distribute the passes directly to the students at their schools, ensuring no time is wasted, said Dr. Madhav Kusekar, Vice President and Managing Director of ST Corporation.
