The civic body through its lawyer has already informed the court about its willingness to pay the compensation and had requested the amount to establish a solid waste processing plant at the same place. The NGT bench and an expert member have agreed to it.

The court has also directed the district collector of Pune to allot the site to the PMC to establish a solid waste processing plant within two months. The petition in this regard was filed in 2020 by an organisation while raising concerns over the use of the area for dumping which poses hazards to the locals living around. The Pune Municipal Corporation has been allowed to use the site as ‘transfer station’ till the time the land is allotted by the district collector.
