Pune, 18th November 2022: Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vijaykumar Magar, who took charge of the traffic branch of Pune city police early this week, has ordered strict action against heavy vehicles that violate no-entry norms. The officer said that e-challans will be issued against them.

DCP Magar has given instructions to all senior police inspectors of traffic divisions to prevent heavy vehicles (defined under section II of the Motor Vehicles Act 1989) from plying on Pune city roads during peak hours.

He has also ordered police personnel to not leave their assigned duty spots under any circumstances – this will help in the smooth flow of traffic movement. A study has found 40 places prone to heavy traffic jams.

Currently, Pune traffic police has 966 personnel posted in 27 traffic divisions across three zones. They are being assisted by 300 traffic wardens.
