Pune: New Scheme Launched to Support Students from Backward Classes with Food and Accommodation

Pune, 13th July 2024: The Dnyanjyoti Savitribai Phule Aadhaar Yojana 2024 has been implemented by the Other Backward Bahujan Welfare Department to support students from Other Backward Classes, Liberal Castes, Nomadic Tribes, and Special Backward Classes. The application process for this scheme has commenced, providing funds for food, accommodation, and a subsistence allowance for eligible students not admitted to hostels.

This scheme targets students pursuing higher education in municipal, divisional cities, district-level, and taluka-level educational institutions who have not secured hostel admission. Eligible students in Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburbs, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, and Nagpur will receive Rs 60,000 for food, accommodation, and subsistence allowance. Students in other revenue divisional cities will receive Rs 51,000, those in remaining C-class municipal areas will receive Rs 43,000, and those studying in taluka places will receive Rs 38,000.

Students whose parents’ income is less than Rs 2,50,000 and who meet the scheme’s terms and conditions can apply for its benefits. Application forms are available at the colleges. For more information, Assistant Commissioner Sangeeta Davkhar has urged eligible students to contact the Other Backward Bahujan Welfare Department Office at Yerawada.
