Pimpri Chinchwad, 21st March 2024: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey has issued a directive mandating the registration of youths before their employment at any establishment. Employers now must obtain a ‘Police Clearance Certificate’ for prospective workers before hiring them, with legal repercussions for non-compliance. This measure comes in response to police investigations revealing the involvement of migrant youths in various serious crimes across Maharashtra, including Pimpri-Chinchwad city, many of whom were undocumented.

The absence of records for these individuals has posed significant challenges for law enforcement in taking appropriate legal action. Recent incidents of grave crimes such as murder, attempted murder, and abuse of minors in Pimpri-Chinchwad city have involved accused migrants employed in various capacities, often without proper registration or police verification.

The potential risk of individuals engaging in anti-national activities while employed in temporary or private positions in residential areas and places of worship cannot be overlooked. Therefore, it has become imperative to gather basic information about incoming workers, enabling the issuance of ‘Police Clearance Certificates’ based on this data.

This requirement extends to all types of workers, contractors, nursery owners, plant distributors, and security guard agencies, as well as skilled and unskilled manpower supply agencies. New hires are prohibited without a police clearance certificate, and the order stipulates mandatory police verification for existing workers.

The process for obtaining a Police Clearance Certificate has been streamlined through the website https://pcs.mahaonline.gov.in/Forms/Home.aspx, where documents must be uploaded for verification. Following this, an online police clearance certificate can be obtained.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Satish Mane emphasized the importance of maintaining worker records, with local police instructed accordingly. Non-compliant employers will face legal consequences for failing to adhere to these regulations.
