Pune: Nepal Municipality Delegation Impressed By PCMC’s Development

Pimpri, 17th November 2023: In a recent visit to Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) in Maharashtra, India, Mohan Maya Bhandari, the President of Birendranagar Municipality in Nepal, expressed confidence in the future success of the PCMC. Bhandari commended the corporation’s extensive expansion, development works, and people-oriented approach, anticipating that it would achieve the highest level of operational excellence.
The delegation from Nepal, led by Bhandari, toured the main administrative building of PCMC. Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh warmly welcomed the delegation, providing insights into the ongoing development works. During discussions with the Commissioner, Bhandari shared her thoughts on the corporation’s approach.
The welcoming committee included Additional Municipal Commissioners Vijay Kumar Khorate, Ulhas Jagtap, Executive Engineer Bapusaheb Gaikwad, Public Relations Officer Prafulla Puranik, Ashiq Jain, and ITDP Deputy Manager Pranjal Kulkarni.
The distinguished delegation from Nepal comprised former Minister of Tourism Yamlal Kandel, Deputy Chairman of Birendranagar Municipality Nilakant Khanal, Head of Administrative Department Prakash Lamicahne, Project Manager Pratishtha Kandel and Project Officer Alisha Karki.
Commissioner Shekhar Singh took the opportunity to provide the delegation with a comprehensive overview of the municipality’s projects. Singh highlighted key areas such as city traffic management, parking systems, planning of pedestrian and bicycle paths, and initiatives related to water supply and drainage. The delegation was appreciative of the corporation’s commitment to urban development and its emphasis on sustainable and people-centric solutions.
The exchange of information and ideas during this visit has strengthened the ties between Birendranagar Municipality and Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, fostering a collaborative spirit for future endeavours in municipal development and governance.
