Yerwada, 8th December 2023: An accident resulting in serious injuries to two youths, has brought attention to the alleged negligence in breaking down the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route on Nagar Road in Wadgaon Sheri. The incident occurred at Shastri Nagar Chowk, raising concerns about the hasty execution of the BRT project without adequate safety measures.

The two injured youths, identified as Suleman Akbar Magare and Abrar Samad Syed, suffered serious injuries while crossing the BRT route at Shastri Nagar Chowk on Nagar Road. Both are currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Shastri Nagar and Yerwada. The accident occurred on Thursday night, and both victims are residents of Sai Nagari, Wadgaon Sheri.

According to information provided by the parents of the injured youths and Congress office bearer Karim Shaikh, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) initiated the removal of the BRT route without proper safety measures, warning signs, or consideration for the ongoing traffic. The work commenced hastily, leading to scrap theft by some individuals. During this process, a woman carrying debris on her head collided with a youth on a two-wheeler, resulting in the accident and severe injuries.

Karim Shaikh, a Congress office bearer, criticized the PMC authorities for allowing scrap theft to occur without intervention and accused them of negligence. He urged the PMC commissioner to file a case against the officials responsible for the mishap. The lack of security measures and safety precautions at the work site has raised concerns among residents.
