Talegaon Dabhade, 13th June 2024: The Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has found itself embroiled in controversy after its Vice President of Maval, Bapu Bhegade, was caught on video verbally abusing a female official, which subsequently went viral. The incident took place at the Talegaon Dabhade Municipal Council.

Reports indicate that Bapu Bhegade visited the council with his delegation to inquire about increased property tax rates. Dissatisfied with the response given by a female official from the taxation department, Bhegade and his group accused her of providing false information. This led Bhegade to attack the woman with disrespectful verbal statements. She replied, but Bhegade became increasingly agitated, standing up and continuing his verbal abuse. The video footage clearly shows Bhegade using derogatory language towards the woman official.

The Ajit Pawar-led NCP is part of the Mahayuti alliance and holds power in Maharashtra, with Ajit Pawar serving as Deputy Chief Minister. Criticism has arisen over the conduct of the regional vice-president of the party, deeming such language inappropriate.

Efforts to obtain a response from Bapu Bhegade regarding the incident have been unsuccessful, as he was unavailable for comment. Senior Police Inspector Pradeep Rayannawar from Talegaon Dabhade Police Station confirmed that no case has been registered regarding the matter thus far.
