Pimpri Chinchwad, 14th May 2023: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP and actor Amol Kolhe has made a serious allegation, claiming that some policemen of the Pimpri Chinchwad police force threatened to disrupt a drama performance because they were not provided with free tickets.

Kolhe shared this incident with the audience during a presentation of the play Mahanatya on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. He also tweeted a video explaining the situation.

Kolhe began by expressing his gratitude for the immense cooperation received from the police in various places like Sambhajinagar, Nashik, Nipani, Kolhapur, and Karad. He mentioned how the Nashik Police Commissioner had provided tickets for 2,500 policemen and their families to attend the play. However, he then shared a regrettable incident that occurred in Pimpri Chinchwad.

Without disclosing the names of the policemen involved, Kolhe explained that his opposition was not directed at any specific individual but rather against the tendency to demand free tickets. He expressed his disappointment, saying, “I thank every parent who purchased a ticket for Rs 300 to bring their children to witness the history of Sambhaji Maharaj.”

Kolhe emphasized that everyone present at the event had paid taxes, from which the police received their monthly salaries. Therefore, it was disheartening to see them demanding free tickets and threatening to disrupt the play if their demands were not met.

With folded hands, Kolhe appealed to the police force, acknowledging their illustrious tradition. He reminded them of the sacrifices made by their colleagues during events like the 26/11 attacks and the COVID-19 pandemic. Kolhe pleaded with the policemen in attendance not to tarnish the bright legacy of the police force for trivial reasons. He intentionally refrained from naming the individuals involved, focusing instead on the broader issue at hand.
