Pune: Namdev Jadhav’s Face Blackened By NCP Workers For Criticizing Sharad Pawar Over Maratha Reservation
Navi Peth, 18th November 2023: In a shocking incident in Pune, the well-known orator Namdev Jadhav had his face blackened by activists belonging to the Sharad Pawar faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). The incident occurred while Jadhav was addressing the media, with Pawar supporters abruptly blackening his face. Prompt police intervention ensured the rescue of Jadhav, escorting him away from the scene.
As Pawar’s supporters loudly voiced their slogans in favor of the politician, they carried out the act of blackening Namdev Jadhav’s face. Women activists from the Pawar group were also reportedly involved in the incident.
The catalyst for this event was Namdev Jadhav’s publication of a purported fake caste certificate belonging to Sharad Pawar, accompanied by serious allegations against the political figure.
The controversy surrounding Namdev Jadhav’s statements had been escalating, leading to opposition from Pawar group activists at Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute (BORI), where Jadhav had a scheduled program. The activists had warned Jadhav of facing consequences, resulting in the cancellation of his program by BORI to avoid any potential untoward incidents.
However, in Navi Peth, NCP party workers carried out the act of blackening Jadhav’s face.
Jadhav, in response, alleged that the Maratha community had been deprived of OBC reservation due to Sharad Pawar’s influence, despite Pawar himself contesting elections with an OBC certificate.
The revelation stirred controversy, and as Jadhav refused to apologize, NCP workers organized a blackout in front of the Patrakar Bhavan in Navi Peth.
In the aftermath of these events, Jadhav has called for strict action against the individuals responsible for the incident, emphasizing the need for accountability in the face of such confrontations.
