Hadapsar Police registered a case of murder on 13th May. Given the seriousness of the case, the Detection Branch (DB) of Hadapsar Police Station, under the instructions of Senior Police Inspector Santosh Pandhare, began investigating the area near the incident site. It was discovered that the deceased worked as a helper in a restaurant named Amrutsari Tadka in Undri and was identified as Rajendra Rambhau Shejul (age 35, resident of Kondhwa). The police located his relatives and found his wife, who proceeded to file an official complaint with the Hadapsar Police Station.

After filing the case, inquiries about Shejul revealed that he had an alcohol addiction. There is an open area near the crime scene where many people gather to drink. As the investigation delved into this aspect, it was discovered from a confidential source that on the night of Shejul’s death, he had a confrontation with an individual named Rajesh Sitaram Lonkar (age 25, resident of Katraj, originally from Balmarapur, Uttar Pradesh) due to alcohol-related issues.

Upon inquiring about Lonkar, the police discovered that he works as a POP laborer at Umakant Enclave company in Handewadi. They proceeded to the company, where they arrested Lonkar and interrogated him. During the interrogation, Lonkar confessed that on 11th May, he and Shejul were drinking in the area when the deceased demanded Rs. 100.
