Pune Municipal Corporation’s Property Tax Discount: Three Days Left to Save on Tax Payments
Pune, 29th May 2024: If you’re eyeing a 5 to 10% discount on your Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) property tax, you’ve got just three days left. Until 31st May, PMC has urged citizens to settle their taxes for the 2024-25 financial year through the Taxation and Tax Collection Department to avail of the discount.
With 14.22 lakh properties under PMC’s jurisdiction, Deputy Municipal Commissioner of the Taxation and Tax Collection Department, Madhav Jagtap, assures that property tax slips have been dispatched via the Indian Department of Post to all property holders. If anyone hasn’t received theirs, Jagtap advises checking the official PMC website.
In less than two months since the start of the fiscal year, PMC has raked in a staggering Rs 836.08 crores in property tax from 4,93,705 properties. Of these, 12.59% have paid Rs 226.58 crores via cheque, while 17.37% have forked out Rs 84.94 crores in cash. A whopping 70.04%, totalling Rs 521.54 crores, have opted for online and digital payment methods.
To facilitate early payment and snag the discount, PMC’s Citizens Facilitation Centres (CFC) will operate extended hours from 9 AM to 9 PM, even on weekends. The Taxation and Tax Collection Department urges citizens to utilize online payment modes to avoid crowding at CFCs and to streamline the tax-paying process.
