Pune, 13th November 2022: Slow traffic in Pune city is a result of the constant flood of automobiles on the roads. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has chosen to utilise the existing main highways by building the Intermediate Ring road by tying together missing connections and development plan (DP) roads to alleviate the enduring issue of congestion.

The local body has chosen to hire a consultant to carry out a traffic feasibility analysis and create a plan for acquiring land, along with a comprehensive project report (DPR). The PMC has chosen to fix the issue by tying up the broken links. The PMC has decided to hire experts to build intermediate ring roads by bridging gaps on 25 important routes in the city based on research. It will immediately become an Intermediate Ring road if we connect these connectors.

The PMC found a way to complete the 390 gaps in the city’s 273.22 km of roads. The lengths of the missing road connectors range from 100 to 200 metres to 2-3 kilometres. An estimate of the project’s cost is Rs. 1,800 crores.

The civic organisation recently studied the city’s highways to identify missing connection roads with the aid of MIT College students. The study was conducted with consideration for the RP (regional development plan) and DP (development plan) of the villages included in the municipal borders.
