Pune, 10th November 2023: In a significant move aligned with the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM), the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is slated to inaugurate ten specialty polyclinics across the city, starting December 1.

These polyclinics aim to provide residents with free specialized medical services, conveniently located in identified areas such as Dhanori, Hadapsar, Bavdhan, Yerwada, and Wagholi. Specialized doctors, including ENT specialists, ophthalmologists, and psychiatrists, will be available to cater to the community’s healthcare needs from 1 pm to 5 pm.

Dr. Bhagwan Pawar, PMC’s health officer, emphasized the necessity of these clinics in light of the escalating cases of non-communicable diseases like hypertension, diabetes, cancer, and obesity. The polyclinics will not only house specialized doctors but will also have PMC doctors available during regular working hours. Civic doctors will conduct initial medical examinations, with patients requiring specialized attention seamlessly directed to expert doctors. This strategic initiative is poised to augment healthcare accessibility and meet the surging demand for specialized medical services within the community.
