Pune, 11th October 2023: In a move aimed at alleviating traffic congestion in the Mohamadwadi area, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has floated a tender for the construction of three major roads. The initiative is part of a broader development plan that could see the municipal corporation spending Rs 1,008 crores on infrastructure over the next 20 years. According to a feasibility report, the projects are expected to generate Rs 3,000 crores in construction charges and property tax.

PPP Model Adopted for Road Development

Facing challenges in land acquisition, the municipal administration has opted for a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The plan includes the development of 18 roads and two bridges in various areas including Kharadi, Bundagarden, Kalyaninagar, Mundhwa, Baner, Sus, Mhalunge, Bibvewadi, Gangadham, Kondhwa, and Mohamadwadi. An estimated Rs 717 crores will be allocated for these projects, some of which have already commenced.
