Organized by Sandeep Lonkar, Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party, Pune City, the demonstration aimed to highlight the persistent road congestion and traffic bottlenecks plaguing Mundhwa. Lonkar voiced his disappointment with the lack of progress in the area over the past seven decades, especially when neighboring areas like Kharadi, Hadapsar, Magarpatta, and Koregaon Park have witnessed significant growth. He emphasized that commuters face excessively long travel times, with journeys taking 2 to 3 hours due to inadequate and poorly designed roads connecting Mundhwa to nearby areas. Lonkar also pointed out the unfulfilled promises made when Keshav Nagar was included in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) half a decade ago. He warned that if the authorities fail to address the road and traffic issues, the protest would escalate, eventually reaching the PMC office.

A resident of Mundhwa expressed his frustration with the ongoing traffic congestion, highlighting the urgent need for improved road conditions and longer stretches to facilitate smoother travel.

The protesters have presented a list of demands, including the construction of flyovers or underpasses near Mahatma Phule Chowk, widening of Mahatma Phule Chowk Road by acquiring additional land, expansion of roads from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk to Z Corner and Renuka Mata Mandir, removal of encroachments at Genba Chowk Lonkar Nagar, installation of traffic signals, placement of speed breakers between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk and Z Corner, implementation of road dividers and streetlights at various locations, and deployment of traffic personnel at Keshav Nagar Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk and Genba Chowk Lonkar Nagar.
