Chinchwad, 1st December 2023: The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) of Pimpri-Chinchwad has submitted a letter to the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, urging stringent action against shops that have failed to display signboards in Marathi, as mandated by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court had set a deadline of two months for all shops, hotels, and establishments to prominently showcase signboards in the Marathi language. This deadline expired on November 25, 2023. Despite a clear directive from the Supreme Court, MNS claims that numerous shops in Pimpri-Chinchwad continue to neglect the requirement.

In response to trade associations filing a petition against the directive, the Supreme Court upheld its decision, reinforcing the necessity of Marathi signboards. MNS has now called upon the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate to ensure immediate compliance with the Supreme Court order.

MNS has issued a stern warning of intensified protests in Pimpri-Chinchwad if immediate action is not taken against shops, hotels, and establishments found to be persistently lacking Marathi signboards. The MNS has engaged in correspondence with both the Commissioner of Police and the Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation on the matter.
