Pune Metro Records Highest Ridership On Visarjan Day, Over 1.63 Lakh Passengers Use Service
Pune 29th Sept 2023: The Pune Metro has received a record-break response of commuters on the last day of ganesh festival as a large number of people used the service on Thursday. The metro officials had already announced to run the service upto 2 am on the visarjan day to provide better connectivity to the citizens visiting city areas to enjoy the celebration with the processions organised by various ganesh mandals on Tilak Road and Laxmi Road.
According to guardian minister Chandrakant Patil who himself started his tour to visit ganesh visarjan processions by travelling in a Metro train, a total of over 1.63 lakh commuters used the Pune Metro service on Thursday. He also urged the citizens to use the Metro service during the upcoming festivals to avoid getting stuck in the traffic congestion. Citizens from various parts of Pune and other districts arrive in the city every year to enjoy the grand visarjan processions organised by ganesh mandals.
The Metro officials considering the need had already announced to run the services for extended hours on several days during the ganesh festival. The guardian minister appreciated efforts by the metro officials and others to ensure smooth services of Pune Metro on the visarjan day.
