Pune Metro Officer Assaulted Over Non-payment Of Rs 2 Lakh Donation For Ganeshotsav, FIR Registered
Pune, 1st December 2023: A disturbing incident unfolded in the Deccan Gymkhana area when an officer working on a Pune Metro bridge project was attacked with a wooden stick for purportedly refusing to contribute two lakh rupees towards the purchase of a Ganesha idol.
The victim, identified as Sharad Haribhau Ugle (62), filed a formal complaint with the Deccan Police Station. The police have registered a case against the alleged accused, identified as Srikanth Santosh Maral.
According to the police, the assault occurred in the vicinity of Khau Galli near Z Bridge, where a contractor company is engaged in the concrete work of the Metro pedestrian bridge. Maral, reportedly associated with the project, demanded a Rs two lakh from the officer for the Ganeshotsav Mandal. When the officer declined to contribute, Maral allegedly attacked him with a wooden stick and shovel, causing serious injuries.
Assistant Police Inspector Nikumbh is conducting further invesitgation.
