Pune: Men Pretending To Be Army Officers Dupe Businessman of Rs 5 Lakh In Pimpri Chinchwad, Case Registered

Pune 26th July 2023: The Pimpri Chinchwad Police have booked three people for allegedly duping a businessman of Rs 5 lakh by pretending to be army officers. The incident took place between July 13 and 17 this year in the Pimple Nilakh area. The police have booked three accused identified as Sandip Ravat, Kuldip Singh and Kunal Chaudhary in the case.

According to police, the accused had ordered drum trolleys from the complainant and asked him to pay Rs 5,22,560 on different occasions by giving reasons of army rules. The accused asked the complainant to transfer this amount on different bank accounts by saying that these transactions are needed to be done as per army rules.

However, when the businessmen realised that he has been duped in the matter he reached out to police to lodge a complaint. A case in this regard has been registered at Sangvi Police Station under sections 420, 406 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with section 66 (d) of the Information Technology Act. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
