Pimpri Chinchwad, 19th March 2024: In recent months, the Pimpri Chinchwad police have intensified their crackdown on criminal gangs, invoking the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against six such groups. Notably, the Ujagare gang in Bhosari and the Ahirrao gang in Wakad have faced legal action under MCOCA.

The Bhosari gang, led by Pawan Chhagan Ujagare, along with members Sunil Janardhan Sakat and Deepak Ramkisan Hazare, has been charged with multiple cases of armed theft. Similarly, the Wakad gang, headed by Aditya alias Niranjan Sham Ahirrao, alongside Pratik Ashok Mane and Prem Sandeep Tarde, faces charges of attempted culpable homicide. These gangs have collectively committed a range of offences, including attempted murder, robbery, theft, and possession of illegal weapons, across various police jurisdictions.

The gangs’ modus operandi involves using violence to assert dominance, extort financial gains, and instil fear in the community. Their criminal activities have spanned multiple areas, leading to a significant impact on public safety and security.

Recognizing the organized nature of their crimes and the threat they pose to society, the police authorities, under the guidance of Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinay Kumar Choubey and Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, have invoked MCOCA against these gangs. This decisive action aims to disrupt their criminal operations and restore law and order in the region.

The successful operation was made possible through the concerted efforts of law enforcement personnel, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doifode, Deputy Commissioner of Police Bapu Bangar, Deputy Commissioner of Police Swapna Gore, Assistant Commissioner of Police Satish Mane, Assistant Commissioner of Police Vishal Hire, Police Inspectors, and other dedicated officers and personnel involved in the investigation and apprehension process.
