Pune: Mahatma Gandhi’s Great Grandson Files Criminal Suit Against Sambhaji Bhide For Remarks Against Bapu
Pune 16th Sept 2023: The great grandson of Mahatma Gandhi Tushar Gandhi has filed a criminal suit against hindutva leader Sambhaji Bhide for his objectionable remarks against Mahatma Gandhi. The suit was filed at Pune court demanding action against Bhide for his remarks against Mahatma Gandhi at an event in Amravati.
Tushar has also named Pune City Police in the case for not taking action on his complaint submitted at the Deccan Police Station on the matter last month. He submitted a complaint demanding an FIR under relevant sections for criminal defamation at the Deccan Police Station last month. However, the police did not lodge an FIR against Bhide due to which he approached the court seeking action against both Bhide and City Police. The case was filed through advocate Aseem Sarode.
It may be noted that president of Sangli based Shiv Pratishthan organization Sambhaji Bhide had made an objectionable remark against Mahatma Gandhi’s lineage at an event in Amravati following which a case was also registered with Amravati Police. The objectionable remark led to protests across Maharashtra and many leaders condemned it.
“Filed a private citizen’s Criminal suite against Manohar AKA Sambhaji Bhide for defaming Bapu & slandering his parents & against Pune Police for not acting on my complaint submitted a month back. With my Adv. Aseem Sarode & the legal team outside Pune District & Sessions Court” Tushar Gandhi shared on platform X after filing the criminal suit at Pune court.
