Pune: Maharashtra Government Allocates Rs. 55.73 Crore for Radiation Oncology Unit in Baramati

Baramati, 28th June 2024: The Government of Maharashtra has issued an ordinance to provide administrative approval for the purchase of machinery and equipment at Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Government Medical College and General Hospital in Baramati. This initiative aims to enable cancer patients to access radiation therapy at affordable government rates, marking a significant step towards establishing a Cancer Hospital in Baramati and providing relief to affected individuals.

The ordinance, issued by the Medical Education and Drugs Department, approves the acquisition of a radiation oncology unit with a turnkey value of Rs. 55 crores 73 lakhs for patient care in the radiotherapy department. This funding is allocated from the Maharashtra State Budget for the financial year 2024-2025.

Just two days ago, the Maharashtra State Government also sanctioned the purchase of an MRI machine worth Rs. 25 crore for the same Medical College. This decision is expected to greatly benefit patients from Baramati and surrounding areas. The approval process was facilitated under the guidance of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, utilizing funds allocated under the Maharashtra State Budget for the financial year 2024-2025.
