Pune, 28th June 2023: Parents and students awaiting admission to Class 11th can now breathe a sigh of relief, even if they lack the necessary income proof or EWS certificate. Following the completion of the first round of admissions, the ongoing second round now allows students to register their college preferences.

However, concerns have arisen as some colleges have been denying admission to students selected in the first round due to the absence of a non-creamy layer certificate, which confirms that they do not belong to the advanced or advanced groups.

In response, the education department has taken action during the final stage of the admission process. On June 22, the Department of Education issued an order stating that students could be admitted by submitting an application receipt, a guarantee letter, and granting a three-month extension to submit the non-creamy layer certificate.

Despite these measures, some colleges continued to deny admission by citing other document requirements. Consequently, the Department of Education has issued a renewed directive, instructing the Department of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education to ensure that students are not hindered due to the lack of specific documents.

As a result, students without income proof and the non-creamy layer certificate will now be admitted based on the application receipt and a guarantee letter. The department has instructed the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education to allow economically weaker section (EWS) students to fill an undertaking form, granting them a three-month period to submit the necessary certificates.

This move aims to address the difficulties faced by EWS students during the online admission process for the academic year 2023-24. Steps are being taken to streamline the procedure for obtaining income proofs, ensuring that eligible students are not disadvantaged during the admissions process.
