Pune: Maharaja Shivchhatrapati Pratishthan Felicitates Artists of ‘Janata Raja’ Mahanatya

Pune, 21st May 2024: All the artists who performed 55 shows of the grand play ‘Janata Raja’ in 18 districts of the state between January and March 2024 for 72 days were felicitated by the Maharaja Shivchhatrapati Pratishthan, Pune recently.

The felicitation ceremony was concluded at Shivasrishti which is a mega historical park on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj conceptualized by late Padma Vibhushan awardee Shiv Shahir Babasaheb Purandare and executed by the Maharaja Shivchhatrapati Pratishthan, Pune.

Jagdish Kadam, Vineet Kuber, Sunil Mutalik, Amrut Purandare, all Trustee of Maharaja Shivchhatrapati Pratishthan, Dr. Ajit Apte – General Secretary of the Pratishthan, and Coordinator of Janata Raja Mahanatya, Anil Pawar- Administrator of Shivsrishti were present on this occasion. More than 150 artists who performed in Janata Raja Mahanatya were felicitated.

Speaking on the occasion, Jagdish Kadam said, “Since this year is the 350th coronation year of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, we have undertaken many important activities on behalf of the Maharaja Shivchhatrapati Pratishthan. A part of it was an execution of this mahanatya ‘Janata Raja’ across the state. We conducted 55 shows of the Mahanatya in 72 days in 18 districts across the state, including parts of Marathwada, North Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Konkan, and Western Maharashtra. We appreciate that this grand play reached around four lakhs, forty thousand Shivpremi. This has been possible with the help of the Government of Maharashtra, so we are grateful for the help they provided.”

Dr. Ajit Apte, who coordinated and acted in this Mahanatya, said that these shows of ‘Janata Raja’ were unforgettable experiences to all of us. The schedule consisted of one play for three days in a row and the next play starting at a gap of one day. Our troupe of over 150 artists used 4 grand sets while this Mahanatya was taking place. It is a matter of pride for all of us that we have completed all these plays.”

Vaibhav Joshi, one of the actors in Mahanatya, thanked the organizers for planning these historic events across the state. Amrut Purandare brought up the memories during the shows. Dr. Ajit Apte gave the vote of thanks.
